Saturday 10 January 2009

The next day, 1st January 2009, we (Carol and I) left at 9 am for our journey down South. After spending the good half of the night and early part of the morning in Burswood, it was amazing we could actually wake up and pack (yes, pack...) and start our trip.

In our hired car, we drove 500km towards Albany, the furthest city South of WA. The journey took us nearly 5 hours, it was hot but the road was fantastic. No hills, just flat lands. Stopped at Riverside Roadhouse to have lunch.

After a tiring looooong drive, we finally reached Albany.First we checked into our hotel, All Season's Motel.

Then we went to visit the tourist spots ..
First stop, the wind farm..

Then off to Whale World, but as we reached there 5 mins to 5pm, we were not able to visit the whale museum. But, I must say the view around the area was spectacular!!

From there, we went to Salmon Hole

Next stop - the Blow Holes

Followed by The Gap

Thank goodness for daylight savings, we were able to visit all those places while there was still light. During daylight savings, the sun sets around 8.30 pm and thus makes the day longer. Many tourists were still visiting when we left to find dinner. And what is more delicious than Fish n Chips!! We went to Moby Dick and if you ever visit Albany, do go and eat the fish n chips there. I say, it's the best I've had!!! We ordered fish, chips, battered squid and oysters.

A good end to an amazing day!!!
2009 - a very good start to hopefully a very good year!!! Happy New Year everyone :-)

Dinner at the Atrium at Burswood (where the casino is :-) ) to bid farewell to 2008 and welcome 2009...

Some of the yummy food..

After the stroke of midnight, we migrated to the casino to try our luck. Well.. let's say it's too early to count our luck yet!! hahah..
